For children ages 5 to 12
Kids of the Kingdom helps children grow in faith and follow Jesus throughout their lives. At the heart of the program is God’s Word. Children learn both the Law, which shows us our need for God, and the Gospel, the good news of forgiveness and life in Jesus.
Growing in Faith Together
In 2024, Sandra Youmans led the addition of music to First Good Shepherd’s Sunday School program and its rebranding as Kids of the Kingdom. Today, music, Bible stories, prayer, crafts, activities, and games help children explore Scripture and understand foundational teachings, including the Trinity and what it means to follow Jesus.
Three Ways We Learn Each Sunday
Each Sunday, children take part in three sessions of about 20 minutes each:
Music
Sing and learn to play the glockenspiel in the music room.
Bible Time
Hear and explore Bible stories in the 4th grade classroom.
Crafts & Activities
Make, play, and create in ways that connect with the lesson.
Kids Are A Key Part of Our Ministry.
We have fun! We have faith! We spread the Word while having uplifting experiences! From trips to California to decorating floats in the Rose Parade to the National Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas, First Good Shepherd has made faith fun and engaging for youth of all ages.
But it is more than just fun. Service to the community was a paramount teaching of Christ and one that our youth experience in safe, socially responsible activities. From pulling weeds to delivering food and other supplies to the people around us who are most in need, our youth learn service.
